"Darling, the ability to accessorize is what separates us from the animals." Leann Anderson loved that quote. Wearing at least one stylish or dramatic piece of jewelry was her signature. Only in the few years before she died did she indulge in real gemstones but her collection of costume baubles was so sizable that she frequently gave her surplus to her friends.

With a sophisticated humor, keen intellect and a great sense of timing, Leann was a born entertainer. But she was just as quick with a hug and a sympathetic word for a troubled friend. HEr brand of friendship was generous, touching and selfless. No one could cheer me up faster than Leann. She showed me that laughter and love are the candy of life.

Leann was a savvy businesswoman. She ran a successful consulting business, spoke to audiences around the world, authored a monthly marketing column for Entrepreneur magazine and maintained a beautiful home. Yet she was the kind of mom that never missed a ball game or a birthday party. She headed up every major community project.

I learned it is possible to be a respected professional and loving wife, mother daughter and friend. Most of all, what Leann taught me is that life is short and the things that count are the relationships you cultivate and the people you touch along the way/ Jewelry isn't at all precious compared to the memories that endure.
